Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending September 20, 1996       

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending September 20, 1996. In general, the reported finfish prices were higher. Whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, rainbow trout fillets, boned rainbow trout, dressed rainbow trout, golden trout fllets and boned coho salmon prices were higher. Red meat trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic slamon and whole steeelhead trout prices were lower. Catfish fillets, cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, whole tilapia and Arctic char prices were unchanged. No dressed red meat trout or boned golden trout were reported. Dressed white sturgeon reappeaared. The reported finfish volumes were generally higher, except that tilapia fillets, rainbow trout fillets, golden trout fillets and Atlantic salmon fillets were lower in volume. Catfish fillets, cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, whole tilapia and whole Arctic char volumes were unchanged.

Shell oysters were 1 cent per oyster less in price and unchanged in volume. Hard clams were unchanged in price and 2800 clams higher in volume. Mussels were 2 cents less per pound and 400 pounds less in volume. Black Tiger Shrimp were 19 cents less per pound and 50 pounds higher in volume.

The Northeast Live Market reported catfish again but no big head carp. Tilapia were unchanged in price and 14,600 pounds more in volume. Oyster and Manila clam prices and volumes were unchanged.
