Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending August 9, 1996    

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending August, 1996. In general, the reported wholesale prices were higher. Only boned rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon fillets were lower in price. No price change was reported for dressed catfish, boned coho salmon or dressed white sturgeon. No red meat trout fillets were reported. The reported volumes were generally lower except catfish nuggets and dressed rainbow trout which were higher. Dressed catfish and dressed white sturgeon reported no volume change. (NOTE: It was reported that over 180,000 pound of "wild" Pacific salmon was on the market.)

Shucked oysters in the pints and gallons reported no change in price or volume. Shell oysters were 1 cent less per oyster and decreased 26,400 oysters in volume. Hard clams were 1 cent less per clam but increased 18,640 clams in volume. Mussels decreased 8 cents per pound and 1475 pounds in volume. Black tiger shrimp decreased 65 cents per pound but increased 60 pounds in volume. Whole cooked crawfish, alligator tail meat and dressed rattlesnake were unchanged in price and volume.
