Week ending June 13, 1997

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending June 13, 1997. In general, the reported finfish prices were unchanged to slightly lower. Cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, tilapia fillets, boned rainbow trout and boned coho salmon had reported price increases. Catfish fillets, whole tilapia, rainbow trout fillets, dressed rainbow trout fillets, dressed rainbow trout and Atlantic salmon fillets had reported price decreases. The reported volumes were slightly higher. Catfish fillets, whole hybrid striped bass, tilapia fillets, rainbow trout fillets, whole arctic char, whole steelhead trout and whole dorade had reported volume decreases. Volume increases were reported for cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, whole tilapia, boned rainbow trout, boned red meat trout, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and boned coho salmon.

Shell oysters increased 1 cent per oyster and 1,280 oysters in volume. Hard clams increased 2 cents per clam lower but decreased 4200 clams in volume. Mussels decreased 1 cent per pound but increased 1,000 pounds in volume. Black tiger shrimp decreased 16 cents cents per pound and 206 pounds in volume. White shrimp reappeared after a long absence.

The Northeast live market was higher in price and lower in volume. Tilapia and big head carp increased in price. Catfish, tilapia and big head carp decreased in volume. Hybrid striped bass reappeared.
