Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending April 4, 1997

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending April 4, 1997. In general, the reported finfish prices were unchanged to lower. Higher prices were reported for catfish fillets, whole hybrid striped bass, rainbow trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and boned coho salmon. Lower prices were reported for tilapia fillets, boned rainbow rout and Arctic char. The reported volumes were higher except cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets were lower. Boned golden trout reappeared.

Shell oysters had not reported change in price or volume. Hard clams were unchanged in price but 10,000 clams lower in volume. Mussel price were 1 cent per pound less and volumes were 1,000 pound less. Black tiger shrimp was 1 cent per pound lower in price and 6 pounds lower in volume.

The Northeast Live Market was unchanged except the volume of bid head carp was 10,000 pounds less and hybrid striped bass reappeared.
