Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report
HIGHLIGHTS
This report is for the week ending June 7, 1996. The
reported were mixed to slightly higher. Price increases were reported for catfish fillets,
whole hybrid striped bass, boned rainbow trout, dressed rainbow trout, whole Atlantic
salmon, and boned coho salmon. Price decreases were reported for tilapia fillets, rainbow
trout fillets, red meat trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, and whole Arctic char. No
price change was reported for cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, catfish nuggets, and
dressed catfish. Dressed white sturgeon reappeared in the report. Whole tilapia appeared
for the first time. The reported volumes were mixed. Catfish fillets, catfish nuggets,
tilapia fillets, rainbow trout fillets, boned rainbow trout and red meat trout fillets
decreased in volume. Volume increases were reported for whole hybrid striped bass, dressed
rainbow trout, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon, boned coho salmon and whole
Arctic char. No volume change was reported for cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets and
dressed catfish.
Shucked oysters reported a price decrease of 22 cents per
gallon and no change in volume. Pints and half pints reported no change in price and
volume. Shell oysters increased 1 cent per oyster but decreased 12,000 oysters in volume.
Hard clams reported no price change but decreased 7,250 clams in volume. Mussels increased
17 cents per pound but decreased 1,950 pounds in volume. Black tiger shrimp increased 23
cents per pound but decreased 360 pounds in volume. Alligator tail fillets and dressed
rattlesnake reported no change in price or volume. Crawfish tail meat was absent from the
report. Whole cooked crawfish reappeared.
