Aquaculture Wholesale Market Report

Week Ending October 18, 1996      

HIGHLIGHTS

This report is for the week ending October 18, 1996. In general, the reported finfish prices were higher to unchanged. Cajun-lemon pepper catfish fillets, whole hybrid striped bass, rainbow trout fillets, Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and boned coho salmon reported higher prices. Tilapia fillets, boned rainbow trout, whole Arctic char and whole steelhead reported lower prices. The reported volumes were higher to unchanged. Atlantic salmon fillets, whole Atlantic salmon and whole steelhead had lower reported volumes. No white sturgeon was reported. Whole turbot reappeared.

Shell oysters had no reported price or volume change. Hard clams had no reported price change but were 1800 clams less in volume. Mussels had no price change but were 50 pounds higher in volume. Black tiger shrimp had no reported price or volume change.

The Northeast Live Market reported a 5 cent decrease and a 6,000 pound increase in volume for catfish. Tilapia had 5 cent price decrease and a 4,900 pound decrease in volume. Shell oysters and manila clams had to reported price or volume change.
