Your Support is Needed for NRSP-7 Funding
The National Research Support Program-7 (NRSP-7), also known as the Minor-Use
Animal Drug Program is a National Agricultural Program that has been working for
the past 25 years to help get drugs approved for use in minor animal species
including fish. This program is separate from MUMS but equally important. In
2007, NRSP-7 lost its funding due to the elimination of earmarks by Congress.
Unfortunately, NRSP-7 is facing another year of no funding in 2008. While this
program was included in the President's Budget for 2008, it did not make it into
the Congressional Budget. If NRSP-7 continues to go without funding, the
infrastructure of the program will be lost and this important program would
cease to exist.
Attached is a brief summary of NRSP-7.
