  • USDA Southern Regional Aquaculture Center - (SRAC) Extension Fact Sheets on CD-ROM
  • An Aquatic Invertebrate Identification guide completed by Joe Boyland and Joe Morris, Iowa State University.  This CD uses a variety of pictures to assist the fish culturist in identifying zooplankton and aquatic insects, which can be important in the survival and growth of larval fish.  This CD is available for a cost of $10, which includes shipping and handling.  Contact the NCRAC Publications Office and request CD Series #102.

  • Fish Disease Diagnosis - A scientific program for fast and accurate determination of abnormal conditions in fish keeping, including disease, environmental, and nutritional problems.
  • FishGuts - A multimedia guide to the art and science of fish anatomy, health and necropsy techniques, and is currently available on CD-ROM. Developed at the University of Maryland School of Medicine Aquatic Pathobiology Center.

  • Island Science Information Center - Offers free complete software package that will help you to start your own Aquaculture Farm.
  • Texas offers Plant Identification - Texas A&M University "Aquatic Plants Field Identification Guide," diskettes and CD-ROM. The guide, produced by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and the Texas A&M University Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, includes descriptions, photographs and drawings of aquatic plants including floating plants, algae, shoreline/marginal plants, immersed plants and submersed plants, searchable by category or through the index listing of common names.
  • Pond Dynamics Software - POND Version 3.0 focuses on providing a detailed view of pond aquaculture at both the individual pond as well as at the facility-level. Pond analysis is accomplished primarily by the use of simulation models combined with an economics package that can be used to generate enterprise budgets for a pond facility.
  • A Listing of Computer Software for Aquaculture - This list was compiled using the Southern Regional Aquaculture Center Pub. No. 380 and various other aquaculture publications, newsletters, and trade magazines. The list is maintained at Oregon State University.
  • "A Whale of a Tale" - A series of educational programs designed for children ages 6 to 8. They are useful to teachers and students both in the classroom and at home. The main character in this animated cartoon series is Little Blue, a baby blue whale.
  • Testing Dissolved Oxygen Using the Winkler Method - Developed by the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant College Program through Purdue University and the University of Illinois.
  • Getting Started in Freshwater Aquaculture - CD-ROM with 208-page workbook.
  • Pond Manager - Aquaculture software for prawn or shrimp farming - CSIRO scientists, with the help of the Australian prawn farming industry, developed Pondman 2: farm management computer software that provides the tools needed to maximize production and minimize costs.
  • Aqua Assist - A software development suite of programs for the Aquaculture Business Industry. Designed using the very latest C ++ Object Orientated Development technologies in delivering information to its users. All systems were custom written to meet specific needs of each customer using rapid application development techniques.
  • Fishery Analyses and Simulation Tools (FAST) - The purpose for the development of this software was to provide fishery biologists and managers a simple Windows-based computer program to simulate and evaluate the dynamics of exploited fish populations.  The program provides for the evaluation of proposed minimum, slot, and inverted length limits and bag limits on very low to heavily exploited fisheries.
  • Timmons Engineering Software - Company sells spreadsheet software for water and wastewater hydraulic calculations for selecting pumps, piping, tanks, etc. Additional functions include conversions, sizing electrical wiring and controls, air piping calculations and other uses.
