Indiana Aquaculture Association,
Inc.
Purposes and Accomplishments:
To assist in promoting production
and marketing of aquaculture products.
- The IAAI played a pivotal role in 1987 Aquaculture Bill that
formerly designated aquaculture as a form of agriculture.
To provide for the educational
advancement of members.
- The IAAI spring and fall annual meetings that include
technical sessions on topics such as marketing, economics, production, farm pond
management, water quality and other timely information
To encourage scientific research in
Aquaculture.
- The IAAI supported the construction of Purdue University's
Aquaculture facility. The IAAI is also represented on the North Central Regional
Aquaculture Center's Industry Advisory Council.
To promote exchange of information
among members.
- IAAI members receive four newsletters each year. As an
association member of the National Aquaculture Association (NAA) each member also receives
voting privileges in the NAA and four NAA news letters each year.
To promote public interest in
aquaculture.
- IAAI members have sponsored field days, and 4-h activities in
conjunction with the cooperative Extension Service to inform the general public of the
economic benefits of a strong aquaculture industry in Indiana.
